There are four medical centres, two of which are in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. The clinic in Toliara (on the SW coast) is in the process of expanding in order to meet the increased demand for medical care. These centres operate free of charge and cater for approximately 45 patients a day. The medical centres have various specialised departments, for example: pathology, ophthalmology, dental, and gynaecology. These departments are staffed by local doctors, whose wages are paid for by the Mission. The Mission also covers the costs of hospitalization for patients with serious health problems.
