His Divine Beatitude the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa Theodor II was welcomed on arrival at the airport by the regional governor; the mayor; the Protosingelos(the Metropolitan’s deputy) of the Holy Metropolis of Madagascar, father Polykarpos; state representatives; and thousands of believers. Here, he opened the Medical Clinic of the Parish of the Annunciation and in the afternoon, he inaugurated the Holy Church of Saint Irene. This church was built entirely with the assistance of the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Oropo (Greece).

The following day, on 7th June 2015, he performed a Patriarchal Divine Liturgy at the city's athletic stadium with the participation of clergyman and lay people. Mr Evangelos Parianos and other donors and volunteers were awarded honorary ecclesiastical offices.
