The Patriarch's Visit

The first Missionary Tour by His Divine Beatitude the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa Theodore II took place between 14th and 29th February 2008.

During his visit, the Patriarch engaged in the following functions:

  • He inaugurated the Seminar, where the candidate priests, lecturers, and teachers are housed and trained.
  • He inaugurated the Museum in honour of the First Bishop of Madagascar, His Grace Nektarios Kellis.
  • He performed the unveiling of the bust of His Grace Nektarios Kellis.
  • He inaugurated the Old People's Home in Alasora.
  • He inaugurated the opening of the Holy Church of St. John the Theologian.
  • He inaugurated the opening of the Holy Church of St. John the Merciful in the town of Ambatolamby.
  • He distributed clothes to flood victims.
  • He inaugurated the middle and secondary school complex in Toliara.
  • He inaugurated the new primary school in Mahajanga (A city on the NW coast.).
